Spiraea tomentosa

One of our native Spiraea species, Steeplebush is a wonderful shrub that keeps to the shorter side and loves moist soils making it a lovely addition to a sunny rain garden. Pink flower spikes top each stem on this mound shaped shrub , leaves turn a lovely shade of yellow come fall, and reddish-brown bark allows for winter interest.

Rhizomatous roots slowly creep to create thickets, but can easily be cut back if needed.
