Northern Bush Honeysuckle is an easy to grow drought tolerant shrub. Reaching a height of 3’ this shrub suckers to form thickets (but can be cut back relatively easily) making a great option for slopes, woodland borders and dry shady gardens. Northern Bush Honeysuckle will thrive in part-sun to part shade sites with dry sandy soils and can tolerate rocky slightly acidic soils.

In late summer, arching branches are tipped with small yellow bell-shaped flowers that attract small native bees, bumblebees hummingbirds and moths. Northern Bush Honeysuckle is also the host plant for the Snowberry Clearwing moth or Hummingbird Clearwing moth. Slightly shiny dark green leaves change to a lovely deep red in the fall offering a second season of interest.
