Meadowsweet

Spiraea alba

One of my favourite shrubs for moist sunny areas, Meadowsweet is a treat for the eyes with its spikes of fluffy looking white flowers, delicately dotted with pink spots at their centers. Flowers are always a seen with a flurry of pollinator activity, especially with small native bees and butterflies. Spent flower heads feed birds through the winter and add visual winter interest. Foliage turns a striking yellow (sometimes with red) come fall.
