Lobelia siphilitica

Cousin to the red blooming Cardinal Flower, Great Blue Lobelia grows spikes covered in purple/blue (and rarely white) blooms from the bottom up giving a long lasting bloom time. Flowers are loved by bumblebees, bees and hummingbirds. In the fall, green foliage turns yellow - reddish purple.

Great Blue Lobelia is easy to grow, tolerating full to part shade and medium to wet soils. It is generally avoided by herbivores and makes a lovely cut flower.
